Why bother

To the people who sake fame,

Nothing lasts forever. Least of all fame. You want to be remembered even after you die. Why I ask? To be known and to be famous is a delight enjoyed only when you are conscious, and after you die you lose that ability anyways. People respected Humayun in the 16th century as a merciful king who controlled massive territories including the present day Afghanistan, Pakistan and North India. He was probably spoken about a lot too, one of the most famous guys back then. Today the kids attending History class in the 8th grade know him, because he is a potential 1 mark that might differentiate them from the rest in the rat race called the Indian education system. I might be exaggerating a bit, there are more people who probably know him than that, but he is many a thousand times less spoken about than he was during his hey days. Give it a few more centuries, and that little chatter will be reduced to something virtually inaudible. Say 2600 is when this happens, that gives Humayun 1000 years of talktime/ fame from all his fans. 1000 years in 4.5 billion years of the earths existence is a shit deal.
My point is that time renders everything a wasteful effort and space multiplies that many times over.
You could be an Obama, King of the world. You'd still be remembered for a miniscule part of time, a 1000 yrs in many billions of years; and famous on earth, a miniscule part of the whole-wide galaxy.
So chill, lie back, quit chasing fame, the bitch dies out quicker than you can imagine

The Phenomenon called Rajni

SIVAJI-THE BOSS!!Big movie, big star, big music director, all heavyweights in their departments and still the impression it left on me was ant-like,small and insignificant. It makes me laugh that a certain host on a certainT.V show on Sun TV was actually discussing the social message of the movie, for as far as I saw there was none.As for people advising me to leave my senses back home and just go enjoy the movie,Idid that and still found myself defenseless against those ridiculous songs, action scenes and gawdy pictures being flung on me time and time again.
But the movie was about RAJNI you argue, you dont watch his movies for a story, you watch it for him.Unfortunately,in my opinion even this argument falls flat on the face because this icon just seems to be a shadow of his past. The guys aged over the years, its apparent with every stunt he tries, with every dance step he takes in those crass songs by A.R.Rehman.Theyve tried making Rajni look every bit the action star that he is known as,but in the end its just a game of manipulation.Manipulated camera angles, trick camera work and whatever else it takes to make it look real, finally leaving you with a flying rajni,a somersaulting rajni and all the rajnis which you know are so unrealistic. The movie trips over several times, with each passing minute, how can you expect the public to buy a story of black money being converted to U.S dollars, send to te U.S,converted back to indian rupees and rentering the country in the form of white money, one hell of a concept isnt it,wonder what the script writer was thinking or even if there was one!Shreya is scintillatingly beautiful,as breathtaking as the sets and the locales, the fact that she is a conservative god-fearing south-indian,who occasionally fancies gyrating in mini-skirts to the worst kind of beats non-withstanding!!
There are people wholl argue vociferously for Rajnis sake, because people hold their demi-gods close to their chest, defend them no matter what and make excuses for them.Look at his energy even at this age!!Hes still got the moves and the style!Rajni obviously is one such demi-god and the biggest one,for nothing else explains the mass-hysteria surrounding his movies.People doing aarthisfor him in theatres[apart from the temples],dancing flinging garlands on the screen, burning down theatres on delay of the screening of the movie.Infact people from Chennai came to Bombay to watch their idol as they couldnt avail of the tickets down south owing to jam-packed theatres.
Alls been said and done in the media, comparisons between Amitabh and rajni, rajni and shahrukh,Amitabh and shahrukh. But one things for sure,if energy levels at an old age is your parameter for comparison then Amitabh wins hands down because he does movies throughout the year unlike rajni's once in a bluemoon movies, that too at a good 5 years older! But popularity wise Rajnis unbetable and id say maybe he deserves it,because if i believed his crass story on his "Sivaji Foundation" for the betterment of people,if I could see truth in the eyes of this guy who projected unrealistic dreams, then imagine those milion guys down south thronging at the theatres, bursting at their seams, theyd fall for it over and over and over again!
What can one say some people just get lucky! And some i guess deserve it.

Of Shilpa Shitty's and Asswarya Rai's

I was reading "Harry Potter and the order of the phoenix" when i came across the "permanent sticking charm" which as the name suggests is a charm to glue something to another forever.Wizards however arent allowed to use magic on we muggles as per the rules of the magic world and their ministry, then why is it i wonder that our bollywood starlets never cease showing off their pearly whites at the slightest hint of a camera focussing on them,is it a case of an unlawfully used permanent sticking charm?I do not know.
Why Bollywood, there was this little known tv starlet I happened to notice at a wedding, whom i vaguely remembered from peeling posters staring at me from the shadiest of corners at the marketplace. What reason there was to incessantly keep grinning, smiling and act like she hadnt known sorrow ever before I do not know but I could tell that she was adept at it maybe from practising it often at other weddings and social events.Speaking of irritable smily creatures,I think the razzy for the best[or the worst?] in this category should go to Aishwarya Rai.If she ever came to accept such a razzy I am sure shed dedicate it to Salman for sparing her teeth in those many brawls they had!!Its hilarious to see Ash at her natural best at award ceremonies, the amount she laughs and giggles I wonder why she wasnt considered as a judge for the Laughter challenge, shed make a great pair with siddhu who like ash prides himself at laughing at the drop of a hat.Of the lesser pursued stories on ash in the media, I heard one doing the rounds that a newly opened extension of the madame tussauds museum, this one comprising plastic figurines instead of the usual wax ones, would consider it a honour to place ash first in their museum, literally!! as it would save them them time to go sculpting a plastic figure!
Among the others in the razzy list in the forever smiling category, leading by miles is Shilpa Shetty who if rumour mills were to be believed is writing a book named "How to be famous in no time!!"The list could go on but I think our actors thankfully score better than our bombshells.Youll never see Salman, shahrukh or even the little known actors laughing louder or do anything which may seem attention-seeking.So is faking more a feminine thing?I cant say realy? But before you label me chauvinistic ill pay tribute to those "sensible" few like Rani Mukherjee and Kajol who "smiled" their way to success without overdoing it.
Ill sign off here, but considering that shilpa shetty is more in U.K than back home i wonder if a certain J.K.Rowling was inspired to include "permanent sticking charms" in her books by our bollywood beauties!!Food for thought eh?

Anger Management...gibberish like never before.

We all have our fights, lets face it.Small issues lead to big fights and big friends reduce to dust in no time at all. There are people who will try put you down at every opportunity they can lay their hands on,after all a person never fails to screw the integrity of the person in front and there are people who seemed wonderful then but today hate you for everything they possibly can.And of course the eternal bitchers are always there,be it an inferiority complex or just a pastime for the idle minds,it is a disease and a rather addictive one at that, and even the most hardcore chauvinist would do well to agree that its not just the gals who indulge in it,atleast not anymore!!
The point is not too list the innumerable types of haters and the reasons behind them doing so!!But to put a thought to what does one exactly do in such a situation and escape the barbs unscathed.Id say fairly simple,a very small list of 2 do's and a single don't.
Starting with the positives, there are just 2 ways to it,punch a sock in the eye or simply ignore!!Although both are effective, flowing with the present "gandhigiri" wave, the latter is something i relate to more.To not react may seem a sign of weakness to some, sallu bhai, mike tyson to name a few,but to me it is the sign of denying the very existence of that small creature at your feet blabbering non-stop about you.And to not recognise someones presence is the worst kind of insult you can bestow[not like its an honour] upon someone in my opinion.
What you must NOT do is "think",ignore or go aggressive but keepin it at the back of mind is not going to help, just not.Hating a person is time consuming after all,and you dont want to give him that upper-hand,where he occupies your mind all the time from where he can operate and destroy the peace within.
The blog seemed kinda empty, devoid of articles, so pardon the frivolousness of the topic[hope you disagree],but you choose will it be a Salman or a Gandhi?

Going gaga over yoga

"do u like have a lot of time in hand?","i have better ways of spending my vacations like sitting home doing nothing" from the younger lot;and "its amazing, the wonders it does to your concentration","its important you get in touch with your spiritual side atleast once!" and more from the elders
Its been close to a fortnight now since i started "yoga";after a lot of pondering and deliberating, listening to all the ridiculing, the guffaws, and the occasional few and far in between approving comments on how it heals the body etc.wonder why i thought so much back then because its the most amazing thing that has happened to me in a while now.life was such a mad rush a few weeks ago, like a never ending spiral,of goals,of ambitions,of people,of deadlines, all futuristic and all with some materialistic gain in mind. But that 1 hour thrice a week taught me to stop and look at the small things, the sounds which we hear but choose to ignore, all small seemingly insignificant things but things which teach you tht there is more to life then just goals and meeting deadlines. The birds chirping, the slight drone of the fans, the vehicles on the road, the movements of the instructors and all of this with the eyes closed, i assume to heighten the hearing sense something which the blind are anyways endowed with. While these make u aware of your surroundings, the various exercises teach u to be aware of yourself, every part of you.lest this sound like a yoga manual, let me call yoga as "the awareness of yourself,of your surroundings and hence of what these together form, our world" and end it there.
Yogas part psychological and part the technicalities involved in each exercise, largely the former.A good example is the "yoga nidhra" where the person has to lie down on his back, head in position, body perfectly aligned, eyes closed[the technicalities];and more importantly he has to imagine a blue light with golden streaks pervading his body spreading peace within[the psychological part]which is obviously the tougher part because there isnt a bulb atop,if at all there was one capable of emitting the said light.
Ill end here in the capacity of an amateur who has harped enough on a subject hes barely just got acquainted with. But yes i am glad that yoga pulled me out of the rat race, put me a few spaces behind the other rats, but all the same a new, refreshed, energised runner at that!!
